"My dad's hair is like salt and pepper. His face has love on every inch of it. His eyes are like a cool summer day. His smile is a light in the darkness. He is a giant to me. His arms are as long as a gorillas and with his hug he makes me feel safe." by JD Braun (11)

  How do people do it?
Submitted by: bhodie am Sunday, February 08, 2009 - 06:50 PM (269 Views)
Family News Well, here it is 2009. It is cold but starting to pull out of the deep freeze of -22 below. We actually hit 40 degrees the other day. JD is too busy with LaCrosse, school, the dog, girls, his gaming, whatever, to take on a website. Maybe later!

Anyway, I figured maybe I could actually keep this damn site updated. My Dad died Feb. 3rd after making his 82nd birthday.. going down to FL this Wed. the 11th for the Saturday service.

Anyway, it got me thinking about past.. and future, and I figured if I did better on here, JD might have something to look back on and go "what a loser!".. hehe, just kidding.. well almost, he is 15 afterall.

So, anyway, rather than trying to keep up a facebook page, or a "blog" or whatever, I will try and do a better job here.. stay posted and see my next exciting post in 2010! :)

Family News Well.. JD has gone from Middie to Goalie, is almost 14 and in 2 weeks will be going into 8th grade.. at 50K miles on NWA with more coming.. been hotter than blue blazes in MN. Watering bans in place and have resorted to putting ice in the hot tub to turn it into a chillcuzzi.

  It's Election Time
Submitted by: bhodie am Wednesday, November 01, 2006 - 03:59 AM (573 Views)
Friends No matter which side of the aisle you prefer to sit on (I still can't get my wife to stay home, since our votes ultimately cancel) But that's a good thing! She has gotten me out to vote, if for no other reason than to offset her delusions!!! (Just kidding honey!!!)

And she is right.. so get out and excercise your hard won right to vote in the upcoming elections.. It will make a difference.

Time Flies Like Arrows, Fruit Flies Like Bananas

Travels Wow.. here it is nearly fall.. JD is heading back to school next week, and is already practicing football. He still likes lacrosse better, but this gives him something to do until lacrosse starts up.

Jo is wildly happy at her job with the church, but stresses about it, the house, the kids, the dog, the weather and just about everything else, so she is apparently content.

My travels continue, but I am learning to manage them a little better. I am taking guitar lessons (left over angst from the 60' and not being a rock star) and have travel guitar that goes with me. So that maximizes my time.

Other than that, life goes on.. at the speed of light!

  Annual SP Conference
Submitted by: bhodie am Saturday, April 22, 2006 - 09:03 PM (959 Views)
Work Well, I just returned from the 10th annual SP Conference in Orlando. Hard to believe it has been that long. Seeing kids that came up to your knee in the first one have coctails at this one! The Omni at Champion's Gate was a nice hotel, but kind of land locked. It was almost half way between Orlando and Tampa.. no ocean at the front door.

Some old friends missing after a year with GE, but overall a great event, and I got to come home Friday after 5 days, instead of my normal staying until Sunday morning.

Jo and JD could not attend because JD was taking his standardized tests at school and couldnt miss them.. no family = no fun!

  WOW!! 84 Degrees!!
Submitted by: bhodie am Friday, April 14, 2006 - 03:17 AM (722 Views)
Over Coffee Can you believe it? At the same time the news is telling you not to plant your annuals yet, it hit 84 degrees! We sat outside listening to music and drinking a glass of wine or two with Lynn and Vince (yes I know its Thursday.. go away) with the full moon rising in the east around 9 pm, as big as you have ever seen it.

The willow tree already has enough leaves to show an outline at sundown, and the yards are already turning green.. so I am calling it.. Let's BarBQue!

  Spring is here!
Submitted by: bhodie am Thursday, April 13, 2006 - 03:12 AM (730 Views)
Over Coffee 70 Degrees today!! I always love it when winter finally gets out of the way, the rain washes all the grime off the street and yards, the buds start showing and things start turning green.

We got a new hot tub to replace the old (small) tub that is more energy efficient while being a couple of hundred gallons bigger. Jo even likes this one, and we use it to get our tans when it is chilly but bright and sunny out. (at least from the waist up)

JD is almost out of 6th grade if you can believe that and will officially be a teenager in less than 6 months. All the kids that were around when we moved in are getting their drivers licenses, making us feel really old. Work still involves a ton of travel (over 35,000 miles since Jan. 1) but I try to spread it out.

Hope you like the new format, please feel free to add stories or other articles...

  Welcome to braunet.com's new home!
Submitted by: bhodie am Monday, April 03, 2006 - 02:16 AM (808 Views)
Family News 04/01/2006: Welcome to the new home of braunet.com. I guess April Fools is as good a time as any to start the new site, which should be not only easier to keep updated, but one where you can help too! Just register and start submitting articles on topics ranging from Work to Family, from Friends to Travel or just Over Coffee.

Not all the features are up yet, but I expect to have the gallery up soon, and as soon as I learn how to add html into php sites, I will get the cruise story back up. (In my spare time).

In the meantime, feel free to start contributing right away!
